URGENT HELP NEEDED IN FL
TO RE-HOME ABOUT 100 PIGS
UPDATE ON FLORIDA RESCUE
November 27, 2011
First let me apologize for taking so long to get this update up for all to see. I've had lots of computer problems and lots of stuff going on also. But here is the update.
Everything went on hold because of our transporters trailer being in an accident up north and it took awhile to get it fixed and then to get it back down to Florida. By the time it was fixed and transported it was or is way to late in the year to transport southern pigs up to the colder north. Although pigs acclimate to climate, they need time for that. We do not like to haul pigs from sunny Florida into the cold without allowing for that time.
So things are on hold until spring. But come spring, we still have 100 pigs that need to be transported. They are safe for the winter. We still have homes for over 25 of them and working on possible more homes when we are ready to transport.
Another problem we face is some changes in laws. First it has been sort of standard that blood testing and health certificates last about 30 days. But those days are past and now once tested they have to be moved within a 10 day frame in most states.
I have been in contact with both Darlynn about all this and also with Sue, our transporter. We have about $900.00 left on hold and that should cover the medical part. But come spring we will have to raise about $1500.00, maybe $2000.00 for the actual transport. So after the holidays, I will once more begin to raise funds to cover all of this. So save those pennies. They do add up.
Also please ask friends and relatives if they will be able to adopt a pair of the pigs come spring. Placing in pairs is the best option since so many have been together for a long time. Please don't think we can do this without all of your help. We can't but together we can make a difference. And if anyone would like to help with a fundraiser, I know the pigs will really appreciate it.
Again I apologize for taking so long to get this update up and out. If you have any questions about this on going rescue and placement or if you can help with funds or with placement, please contact us at rescue@farec.org.
Thanks,
Lana and FAREC team
Darlynn works 12 hr a day shifts and so is gone 14 hrs a day. She has 134 potbellies, 55 lg. farm/feral crosses, 1 steer and dogs and so forth. She is desperate for our help. The pigs need our help. Below is what we are trying to do and what she needs.
We would like to place about 100 of her pigs or at least close to that. We have waiting homes for 14 so far. We have a donor paying to neuter two of her cryptorchid that she doesn't have the funds for. They also have a home to go to.
The people who put the fencing up before they moved there didn't put it up right for pigs. They can push under the bottom and a lot of them are now inter mingling with others causing a feeding problem. Big pigs stealing the smaller pigs food. If you look at the pictures you will see the fencing. Especially the one with the steer in it.
So fencing repair and some replaced needs done NOW. We need volunteers are able and willing to go help. Please contact us at 931-863-2202 if you can. I will then work on a day and time that you all can come work at it on. Please, it is for the pigs.

Other needs:
Fencing
Placement for about 100 pigs of which 14 have homes.
Food which you can either send to us if you want the tax credit via www.paypal.com to rescue@farec.org and mark for DD food so I can call it in to her feed store.
If you want you can call it in yourself at:
Aaron at
Lakeland Nutrition Group: 863-682-4995, PO Box 1608, Eaton Park, FL 33840
Later I will be posting the number to TSC for other supplies. She is getting me their number.
Need:
Fencing
Fence staples
Hammers
Fence stretcher
Man power to do the work
Volunteers to help feed until we get the numbers down and get pigs to their new homes. They need lots of fresh water during the day because of the heat. Please if you live in FL and can help, please let us know at 931-863-2202 or call Darlynn on her cell at 863-258-3308.
Also need hay and someone to haul it.
We need someone to pick up and take the two cryps to the vet for surgery this coming week. Please help. Let us know if you can. Both are about 150# but gentle guys.
Then we need volunteers to help spread the word to help find homes. No one person can do all this, but if we pull together we can make it happen. Please help the pigs. Keep the pigs in the forefront of your minds.
Lets show our love for the pigs and work together to get them secured and fed and watered and pens repaired. We need lots of funds for all of the above including transport once we have a load to go.
Please won't you consider helping us help the pigs. Make a difference in their lives.
Share with friends and family. Share on facebook and other networking places.
Get the word out. We can do this.
One of the problems facing us today is that we have become a "throw away" society. We throw away our marriages, children and animals. We look for the easy way out of all our problems and commitments. No longer do we work to find solutions to our problems or ways to keep commitments. It has become much to easy just to throw things away like we throw away a paper plate when finished using it.
Millions of animals every year are thrown away, including the pet pig, dogs, cats and others. Many are euthanized because they have no one to care. No one to give them a home. Shelters and sanctuaries are busting at the seams and many have no alternatives but to euthanize to make room for yet more animals that are just abandoned, neglected and tossed away like the used paper plate.
It is the goal of Forgotten Angels to not only help with rescue and placement but to help to educate the general public. In educating we hope that people will stop before making a commitment and think about it and make an informed decision. One where they will know the facts first and to know there are solutions and ways and means of solving problems

So you want a cute micro mini pig. You've seen them on television and you seen them advertised on the Internet. They are so cute. Guaranteed to stay small. You know you can handle one at 40 pounds. Dogs get that big.
But what is the truth about the new craze of "teacup", "micro-mini" and other super small pigs such as the "Royal Dandy. They are just so cute and many movie stars are buying them up. You see them on the news and in the tabloids, so you want to own one too.
