In Loving Memory of Beasty

Beasty lived on Bimini Lane in Bunnell, FL. He was a very friendly boar and loved to break out of his not so secure pen and pay a visit to the neighbors on the street. He was very laid back and friendly and would lick your hand and was very playful. He loved just being a pig.

On September 27th he broke out as usual and went to visit the neighbors looking for his hand-outs and friendships. He was always easy to lead home with just a small bucket of food. With that bucket, he would follow you where ever you wanted to go. The owners were called because the one house he always stopped at, people were not home, so they called the owners son saying where he was if they wanted to go get him. When the neighbors got home they saw the horses going crazy and they rushed to put them up and then to find out what was happening.

The owner, in a fit of rage was shooting Beasty in the road with a small caliber gun. He was screaming and trying to get up. There on Bimini Lane he gave the final shots that ended Beasty's life on this earth.The owner tied him and dragged him home and all Beasty wanted to be was loved and to have friends who cared.

What made this even more tragic, was the fact that a sanctuary in New York had been found who was going to take him. Farm Sanctuary was making arrangements for transport. It was a safe place where he would have lived out his life in safety. But he never got that chance. We want justice for Beasty who died way before his time.

He was shot in front of neighbors on the street who had come out to see what all was going on. He was shot in front of elderly people and young people. As he was dragged he left a trail of blood and his screaming could be heard by all on the street. The law was called but to no avail. (Click here to see a copy of the report) But we refuse to let his death be in vane. Through this fund, named in his honor and memory, other pigs will receive help. Doesn't matter the type of pig, Potbellied, domestic or feral. All animals need a voice and help from time to time.

You can be a part of keeping his memory alive by donating to fund to help other pigs. Each time funds are sent to help, there will be a note telling that it is given in the memory of Beasty. And we will continue to work to find ways so that other pigs will get the help they need and more laws will be there to protect them, just as they do for dogs and cats and other domestic pets.  Remember Beasty now by signing up to give on a regular monthly basis or a one time gift.
